Ninos Fenech Mikelidis
Writer, journalist, film critic and historian Greece
Chairman of Jury of 23rd International Short Film Festival in Drama

Born in Nicosia, Cyprus. Writer, journalist, film critic and historian. He studied Greek and English Literature at the Athens University and Film at the London School of Film Technique. He directed the short film “Helen” (1962-63), based on two poems by the Nobel prize winner George Seferis, winning prizes at the Karlovy Vary, Thessaloniki and Leipzig film festivals. He has written books on cinema (“The most important steps in the evolution of cinema: the silent film”, “The History of Cinema - 100 years of Greek films”, “My 100 best films”), has published five collections of poetry, one novel ("Prison Diary") and has translated the poems and a play ("The Hothouse") by Harold Pinter. He has co-operated with the British Film Institute (1967-74), as well as with various greek and foreign journals. One of the founders (and now Vice-President) of the Greek Association of Film Critics, member of the European Film Academy and the Greek Film Academy. Film critic of the greek newspaper “Eleftherotypia” (1975-2015). He served as Artistic Director of the Kalamata Documentary Film Festival and the Cyprus Film Days Festival. Founder and Director of the Panorama of European Cinema film festival since 1988.
